Biography Adam Possamai is Associate Professor in Sociology at the University of Western Sydney. He is the author of Religion and Popular Culture: A Hyper-Real Testament (2005), In Search of New Age Spiritualities (2005) and Perles Noires (2005), a collection of short stories in French. He is a former President of the Australian Association for the Study of Religions and was the 2002-2007 co-editor of the Australian Religion Studies Review. He is currently the Secretary of the Executive Board of RC22 on the sociology of religion from the International Sociological Association and was the programme coordinator for the Sociology of Religion section at the last World Congress of Sociology in South Africa.
