(fl. 300 BC)

Anyte was admired in antiquity by Meleager who mentions her ‘lilies’ first in his catalogue of women poets. In the Greek Anthology there are 25 epigrams attributed to her, but either Planudes or the Palatine editor (or both) were unsure about the authorship of six of them; today only 21 of the epigrams are generally considered genuine.
