Description Abstract This chapter explores the ways in which concepts such as assertiveness and aggression can be understood from a linguistic point of view. Also, the way in which communication in professional contexts involves the concurrent need to attend to ‘face wants’ through the performance of ‘facework’ throughout the interaction, is further analyzed. It highlights the fact that communication is much more than simply exchanging information.
