Abstract |
The aims of this chapter is to trace the reason why such Mahāyāna texts as the Sukhāvatīvyūha-sūtra had to grow out of the religious consciousness of the primitive Buddhists, and further to expound the teaching of Shinran 親鸞 (1173–1262), who popularized by means of the Sukhāvatīvyūha doctrine the deep truth most inwardly realized by the Buddha. |
