6. Description Abstract This chapter is concerned with the environmental protection of the places where the search for elements that produce energy have increased in the last years. Its aims are three-fold: first, to outline the evolution of the emergent oil nexus between the major Asian consumers and Gulf producers; second, to analyse the short, medium and possible long-term risks that arise from this dynamic; and third, to consider possible medium to longer-term benefits that might arise from a trans-Asian energy collaboration based on renewable energy.
