6. Description Abstract In this chapter, a process-oriented approach to writing will be examined. This approach engages the writer in the creation of a text rather than just focusing on the final product. A theory of writing which is at the basis of a process-oriented approach to developing writing skills in the language classroom will be presented. Finally, general guidelines as to how to develop effective written tasks that will help learners improve their written skills in a second language will be offered.
