Abstract |
This chapter introduces the notion of sound waves, and describes periodic and aperiodic waves, and simple and complex waves. The frequency of the repetition of a periodic wave’s cycle is described and its measurement in Hertz. The relationship of frequency to pitch is illustrated via the mel scale. |
