6. | Description | Abstract | Archaeological and palaeoenvironmental investigations in the Hakai Passage region of the central Pacific coast of Canada have identified an area of relatively stable shorelines extending to at least 13,000 calendar years ago. The local sea level record for this ‘hinge area’ has been developed through integration of data from isolation basins, stratigraphic sections and archaeological sites. Preliminary archaeological work conducted on these paleoshorelines has established good evidence for maritime adaptation extending to at least 11,300 years ago. |
