6. Description Abstract Although excavations had been ongoing at Khirbat al-Mudayna and elsewhere along the Wadi ath-Thamad since 1996, no Iron Age II tombs or burials had been found until the 2012 season when cave tomb, WT-200 was located and excavated. The use of caves as places of interment in regions of karstic limestone is well known in the Transjordan and it is likely that other caves in along the Wadi ath-Thamad were also used for burial purposes. This chapter will discuss some of the modifications made to cave chamber of WT-200 allowing it to serve as a place of interment, and present an overview of some of the excavated material found therein. Although badly damaged by ceiling collapse and erosion WT-200 yielded much valuable data. Pottery forms and objects of personal adornment allow a number of comparisons to be made with tombs at Mount Nebo and Dhībân.
