6. Description Abstract A brief overview of Part Three.
Part Three examines how the activities of creating process narratives and grey boxes also produce discourse frameworks, which affect the nature and recall of understandings. Discourse frameworks incorporate individual and social interpretation activities, particular material resources in a setting, and the constraints affecting the use of those resources. Discourse frameworks function as components of understandings, because recall of process narratives also involves recall of the interpretation activities that led to them. Examining the relationship of discourse frameworks to process narratives and grey boxes reveals how the interaction that creates and reproduces a professional culture also affects understandings.
