6. Description Abstract Boycotts of Israel are a systematic practice of
avoiding economic, political and cultural ties with
the State of Israel. Boycott campaigns are used
by those who oppose Israel’s very existence, or
its policies regarding the Palestinians. They have
been enacted or proposed around the world and
involve economic measures such as divestment
or boycotts of Israeli products or businesses.
In addition, there have been boycotts of Israeli
universities. Some advocates of boycotts use the
1980’s movement against South African apartheid
as a model.
