6. Description Abstract This contribution uses a memory-oriented perspective to shed light on three aspects of the archaeology of the Southern Levant, which perhaps can be seen as material correlates of cultural and social memory. The examples are from Late Bronze Age New Kingdom Egypt, Iron Age Philistia, and the Hellenistic Hasmonean culture. These examples can serve as an indication of the potential contribution of memory-oriented perspectives in the study of the ancient cultures of the Southern Levant.
