These distinct ceremonies give form and expression to Native American’s historical and ongoing relationships with their lands and empower them to cultivate a sense of place and community. At the same time Native Americans also engage in cultural borrowing, ceremonial exchange, and religious reinvention to gain new insights, build understanding, and foster solidarity, especially in times of uncertainty and political unrest.
