6. Description Abstract In order to answer this question, we need to unpack it. What is meant by Muslim countries? What is meant by atheism in the context of Muslim countries? Is it difficult to be or to show non-belief? What kind of difficulties and consequences might atheists experience? Atheism is a sensitive issue, even more so for women, but not in all countries, not for everyone to the same extent, and also depending on whether, how and where you disclose your nonreligion. Yet despite it being difficult, there appears to be a growing number of people who identify as atheists in many Muslim countries.
