6. Description Abstract In the majority of countries worldwide, a larger proportion of young people do not believe in God or a Higher Power, compared with older generations. Not all atheists are currently young people, but a higher proportion are. This demographic phenomenon is mainly explained in the secular transition framework by generational change and replacement.
