6. Description Abstract This chapter presents the most important facts concerning East Slavic metrical system. It lays out the main assumptions concerning the formal representation of lexical stress and outlines an account of the Russian metrical system in terms of OT. The chapter also looks at different rhythmic patterns which are present in dialects with vowel reduction and develops a model of metrical structure for these systems.
