6. Description Abstract The Supreme Court has recognized that the Fourth Amendment gives the home special protection. However, police can come into your home without a warrant and search if there’s an emergency situation. Since the Fourth Amendment only protects people from “unreasonable” searches, there are times when an emergency means the police are acting reasonably.
