Abstract |
Chapter 14 highlights the significance of a linguistic approach to translation studies. It proposes six steps in applying Systemic Functional Linguistics to translation, including (i) observation, (ii) interpretation, (iii) description, (iv) analysis, (v) explanation, and (vi) evaluation. This chapter also illustrates how the six steps are applied in the investigation of English translations of ancient Chinese poems. |
