About the Resources

Welcome to the companion website supporting Trajectories and Themes in World Popular Music, by Simone Krüger Bridge, published March 2018.

The site provides students and instructors with ready-to-use teaching and learning materials, included are
Essay and discussion questions, including sample essay: These encourage students to synthesize their cumulative knowledge of concepts.
Web links to related readings, listening examples, and music videos: These are embedded into the PowerPoint slides and/or provided separately on printable sheets, and direct students to some useful online resources.
Videography of relevant documentaries: Hand-picked and relevant to the session’s content, the documentaries are annotated and serve as excellent audio-visual study aids to enhance students’ learning.
Hands-on learning activities/ case studies, including student samples: Accompanied by critical thinking questions, case study prompts draw on recent music-related research and news from the popular media and can be used for both group tutorial work and assignments.
Copyright-free images: The PowerPoint slides and webpages feature copyright-free images that may be used by instructors and students in their presentations, essay writing, or else.

These resources are free of charge and designed to maximize the learning experience for undergraduate and postgraduate students of popular music, including those studying on courses in ethnomusicology, musicology, sociology, cultural studies, and media and communication.
