The author takes the reader on unique journeys, explor​ing the intricate history of the sparkling wine trade, from its seeds, sown in 17th -century England, and roots, reaching back to 18th -century France, to the most recent developments, which are taking place on all continents except Antarctica. Marta Ręgowska, MSc, is a wine educator with an insider’s knowledge gained during her work in Piedmont at the wine-producing company Pelissero in 2015. Owner of wine school Winodobranie, operating in Warsaw since 2017, she manages workshops on a variety of wine-related topics, designed for both professionals and wine lovers keen to improve their knowledge. Holder of WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines, she provides consulting services as a certified WSET Course Educator. Specialising in sparkling wines, she has offered her expertise as wine judge during wine competitions in Kecskemét (Hungary) in 2019 and Verona (Italy) in 2021. She has been an Official Member of the Cava Academy and Cava
Educator since April 2023. She also holds Champagne Master-Level Certificate, a reputed credential awarded to her by Wine Scholar Guild in 2024.

Piotr Nagórka, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at the University of Warsaw. As Head of the Laboratory of Cultural Terminology at the Faculty of Applied Linguistics, he directs and conducts research in multilingual terminology while offering terminological assistance to various domains of knowledge, including wine and food science and studies on human values. He has authored two dictionaries dedicated to the field of oenology and numerous articles on Europeans’ ethical concepts. His encyclopaedia Madeira, Port, Sherry: The Equinox Companion to Fortified Wines has gained widespread attention from linguists and wine professionals, having been nominated for the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2021 and recognized by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine, winning the prestigious Prix de l’OIV award in 2022. He has received research fellowship awards from the University of Vienna and Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz. His research results have been published as journal articles and book chapters, and presented at international conferences in Dresden, Mainz, Riga, Venice, Warsaw and Wrocław.
