Description
Chapter 2 takes a close look at the challenges of ‘glossing’ a text – that is, presenting it for interpretation, normally only necessary when the language being analysed is different from the one in which the analysis is being done, but in fact an essential part of any syntactic description – and see how the choices made there can affect any further descriptive claims made for the text.
