Our focus is the academic study of religion and belief systems from a social science, historical or philosophical perspective including comparative work, cognitive historical and cognitive science approaches, work on non-Western religions, the ancient Near East and Mediterranean regions, new religious movements and work devoted to the theory and method in the study of religion and studies of the relationship between religion and contemporary social issues.

Due to company restructuring following a demerger, much of our backlist in these disciplines was transferred to Acumen Publishing in 2012 (those books now reside with Routledge). We are rebuilding our lists and welcome new proposals.
